A few years back, Mom was reminiscing about all of the great holiday parties Nana and Papa threw when she was a child. She thought about how much she loved all the yummy savoury appetizers Nana would make for them. And that led her to create her own modern spin on a holiday classic – mini cheese ball appetizers!
I’ll admit – I used to think cheese balls were weird and unappetizing, but these finally made me see the light!
The first time we put these out for a holiday meal, they were a BIG hit.
(Almost as big a hit as her cream cheese appetizers, which I could practically live off of.)
The great thing about Mom’s recipe is that is includes so many variations, meaning there’s one for everyone. What could be better for a big family feast?
Mini Cheese Ball Appetizers on a Stick
Cheese balls have always been one of Mom’s favourite party treats. Creamy, delicious, and packed with flavour, they were always one of the highlights of the celebration.
To bring back all of those happy childhood memories, she created her own version with these mini cheese balls on a stick.
Instead of crowding around one large cheese balls, now we can grab our own individual ones and move on.
The best part is how easily you can make a variety of different flavours to satisfy everyone’s tastes. Mom’s recipe gives you several variations to try – be sure to check her number one pick (the secret ingredient is dill pickles!).
The variety of flavours also brings a bunch of festive colour to your meal. Think of how nice the pops of colour would look alongside some Rice Krispies Christmas trees and a plate of cranberry brie bites!
And honestly, what’s easier to throw together than a cheese ball. I know I’m always running around doing things last minute during the holidays (or, y’know, year round) so this is ideal for us frantic folks.
Head over and grab the recipe to try these out for yourself!
