This handprint chicken craft is really easy to make using simple supplies you can find at the dollar store. Hang these up around the house or make them out of craft foam instead of paper and add magnetic tape to the back to make them into fridge magnets.

This is a fun paper craft project for kids that can be made anytime or used as part of educational units with themes on farms, animals, and others. The simple inexpensive craft supplies make this a great project for groups too.

Instructions:

Step 1:

Download, print, and cut out the template for the chicken patterns. Select colored craft papers for the craft. Trace the template patterns on the selected papers using a pencil and cut them out using scissors.

Note: If your kids are comfortable with it, they can trace their own hands to use for at least part of the chicken if they prefer. If you have kids with different sized hands, you could use the larger one for the body and the smaller one for the wing.

Step 2:

Use a matching marker to trace outlines on the big handprint (body), small handprint (wing), and head cutouts. This really adds some definition to the design.

Step 3:

Attach the head cutout on the top end of the thumb (of the big handprint).

Step 4:

Attach the small handprint on the body base handprint.

Step 5:

Attach the leg cutouts on the bottom side of the chicken pattern.

Step 6:

Attach the wattle cutout on the head cutout, near the bottom part.

Step 7:

Attach the beak cutout on the top part of the wattle pattern.

Step 8:

Attach the comb cutout on the top side of the head part.

Step 9:

Attach googly eyes above the beak to complete the handprint chicken craft.
