Thanks for Thanksgiving by Julie Markes and Doris Barrette

It’s good to be thankful – but for what? This book serves as a great introduction to Thanksgiving for little kids, showing lots of things they can be grateful for while keeping the focus on family.

Llama Llama Give Thanks by Anna Dewdney

We’ve mentioned before how much we love the Llama Llama series. This one doesn’t disappoint, with wonderful rhymes and lots of Thanksgiving fun! It’s a lot smaller and shorter than Llama Llama Red Pajama, which is great for super young readers because then it’s easier to get through.

There are also Llama Llama books for other holidays, so if you’re a fan of the series like we are, make sure to check them out!

Biscuit is Thankful by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and Pat Schories

If you’ve never heard of this series, you’re missing out on one adorable puppy! Kids love looking at the puppy and hearing the well-paced story. Biscuit has lots to be thankful about. Woof, woof! A sweet and simple book about a very thankful little puppy.

If you like this one and want another fall-themed Biscuit book, check out Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch.

Count Your Blessings by Kathleen Long Bostrom and Lisa Reed

The VeggieTales are here to introduce your little ones to concept of thanking God for all of His blessings.

We first bought this board book for our eldest son’s baptism and he fell in love with it (as you can see in the picture above).

Each character tells the things they are thankful for – including family, friends, and food – and the book ends by encouraging your kids to thank God for their blessings, too. Perfect for any Christian household.

Baby’s First Thanksgiving by DK

This board book is so cute and a great way to celebrate one of baby’s firsts! With very simple sentences, many of which stretch across multiple pages, it takes baby through many of the Thanksgiving traditions.

Touch and Feel Fall by Scholastic

We’re a big fan of touch and feel books. They were some of my son’s favourite. Plus, ones like this fall book are great for teaching vocabulary.

This book is not explicitly for Thanksgiving, but still a great book to have on hand during this season. Each page has a word and a beautiful picture featuring a texture for your child to explore. Great for sensory development!
