40+ Ghoulishly Good Halloween Books for Kids of All Ages

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Halloween is my favourite holiday (only tied with Christmas). There are so many fun things for the whole family, including lots of great Halloween books for kids to read.

When I’m not busy making adorable Halloween beadie buddies or throwing together tasty popcorn witch hands, I’m looking for other ways to bond with my boys.

We love reading together and these books help get us all into the spooky spirit.

Last year I took Walter to my school’s Halloween party and despite all of the fun activities, he just couldn’t resist going over and seeing all of the books on the shelf!

He may absolutely adore books but he’s fairly rough with them, so we still use a lot of board books with him. Luckily, there are loads of great Halloween board books out there!

For read-alouds and older, trustworthy children, picture books are the way you want to go. There are so many fantastic Halloween picture books, chock full of eye-catching images and wonderfully entertaining stories!

Lastly, I’ve rounded up a bunch of recommendations for the older kids who are looking for horror books. While my boys aren’t ready for these yet, these are titles I’ve been collecting for my classroom library, so I know they’re definitely kid-approved.
